Many thanks to the 10,000+ people who participated in the survey! Here are the results.

This is a great source of data. Would you mind sharing the methodology? Regarding the participants from Brazil, is the sample relevant? May I refer to your survey in my work (this is an internal study regarding the app opportunity).
Thank you for your interest in the data.
The methodology is described here: http://www.cs.ucl.ac.uk/staff/S.Lim/app_user_survey/tse_mobile_app_country_differences_lim_etal.pdf
We used an ISO-certified panels company to get a representative sample of the target population.
You can find the questionnaire and download the dataset here: http://www.cs.ucl.ac.uk/staff/S.Lim/app_user_survey/
You are welcome to refer to the survey in your work. Please cite the paper: Soo Ling Lim, Peter J. Bentley, Natalie Kanakam, Fuyuki Ishikawa, and Shinichi Honiden (2014). Investigating Country Differences in Mobile App User Behavior and Challenges for Software Engineering. IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE), in press.
Thank you a lot, Soo Ling. You’re doing an amazing work on the field – it’s probably the first I come accross that has a solid approach. So far what I found was mostly marketing talk. I’m very interested on the subject (and heavily invested – I’m a partner in this company – http://www.pontomobi.com.br). I’ll read your work carefully and hope you don’t mind me contacting you for further questions and comments.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
